Changing Background Color In Html

Hi.  referring to the following link, I would like to to do the same for an HTML file.  I followed the instructions that works for a Java file but it's not working for HTML.  The empty parts(where I indented from the margin) is still in white.  Only the parts that have code have the new background color.

Those instructions don't work for me in both HTML and Java documents.  All that setting the foreground color of the Background does for me is highlight the section at the bottom of a document that contains no text and setting both the background and the foreground color of the Background changes all of the background except where any characters are.  Strangely enough, that other thread was posted just after JCreator 4.5 was released.  Maybe something in the graphics that changed since then made it not work the way it should...
